Busy, busy

I have, unfortunately, been extremely busy of late. We had a lot of overtime this last week. Additionally, my honors creative writing class is starting to kick my ass.

I will be posting some of my writing here to my blog as time permits. Additionally, I have to get some of my tutorials up here as well. I am hoping to at least get some things done prior to my birthday. We shall see. May not happen if we get more overtime, at least not right away.

Marley and Me {Movie Review}

This Christmas Day, I went to see a movie called Marley and Me. It features Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston. It is about a dog. It is about life. It was at times funny, and at times heart-wrenching. All-in-all a good movie to see. If you get the chance to, I definitely suggest seeing it in the theater. I felt it was worth the money to see it on the big screen (which is something I haven’t really been able to say for the last few movies I have gone to.)

It starts off on a very humorous tangent, and ends on a more personal level. The entire movie will have you thinking about the choices you make in your own life, for better or for worse. I think it helps to open your eyes to what you have going on around you a little bit more.

If you are looking for a feel-good movie, this one is for you. I give it a thumbs up rating.

Finally

Well, I finished moving to Oshkosh this weekend. I will hopefully have a bit more time to post now, as I am much closer to work, and thus able to get home far quicker.

I am shooting to have one tutorial completed per week, although I don’t know how well that is going to work come next session, as I am taking Honors Creative Writing and am expecting a pretty large workload there.

New Age Expressionism!

[New Age Expressionism]

This afternoon while I was working, I noticed that one of my co-workers had been messing around with some of the lumber I had stacked up on one of my pallets. I also noticed that it looked vaguely familiar…

I then compared it to:

And then I realized that one of my co-workers was a new age expressionist. He thinks I was joking when I said I would blog about it, but alas, I never kid about such things. Hope you enjoy!

I thought this story was quite funny. You should go read it because I said so:

All the World’s a Palette

The first thing I really need to figure out is a new color scheme and logo for Red Satori. I have a few ideas I have jotted down in my sketch book for the purpose of a logo. I should be getting to that in the next day or so. I want it to be fairly simple, while at the same time showing the complexity of both myself and what I do.

As to color schemes, since I have red in my site’s name, I am thinking of using a dark red color on the site. I am thinking that a black and dark red combination would be fairly useful, and it would allow me to change the entire look of what I am doing, without really having to change too much of the content to do so.

I will be rebuilding the forums from scratch as well, in order to make it easier to use from my perspective. This will most likely take some time, and I will be adding features to the forums as I deem it necessary. While using a pre-made forum solution will remove a lot of the headaches, I don’t have nearly as much control over what is going on with those that I would like to have.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all who are concerned.

New Beginnings

I have recently switched over to a new hosting service and registrar for all of my domains. While I was originally going to just copy everything over to the new host, I have decided to redesign the entirety of both sites from scratch. Please check back for more information on the progress this is taking, as well as to have a chance to offer input on various design choices I may be putting up for users to decide upon.

Thanks,

Jim
